The Prostate and
related Problems
It is
divided into zones-front, peripheral, central and transitional. Each zone has
its own characteristics and different significance in terms of function and
disease.
It is
located deep in the pelvis, below the bladder.
Through the
prostate passes the urethra which transports urine from the bladder to the
opening at the top of the penis. The prostate is composed of glandular,
muscular and connective tissue. The secretion of the prostate also contains
substances that protect reproductive and urinary tract from infection, and fluids
having various biological activities: prostaglandins, immunoglobulins,
spermine, fructose, citric acid, various enzymes and so on.
Prostaglandins
are important for processes like erection, ejaculation, sperm motility.
Because it
surrounds part of the urethra, the enlarged prostate can squeeze that tube.
This causes problems when you try to pee. Typically, these problems do not
start until you’re 50 or older, but they can start earlier.
Statistics
have shown that of all the internal organs of man, the prostate often suffers
the most.
When the Kidney
is weak with blood stasis, is one of the main reasons that prostate problems
occurs, this could be relating with the person's age.
While Zafin
(hot temperamental level of) kidney (also called yang) is in deficiency, the spleen
because of this imbalance fail in its smooth function of transmission. Thus body fluid, blood
and energy (qi) cannot be distributed evenly, this leads to the formation of
blood stasis.
On the other
hand while Sanyin (cold temperamental level of) Kidney (also called yin) is in deficiency,
the Zafin Hanta (liver fire in TCM) acts in random, herby drying up the body
fluid and gathers a mucous membrane in the lower abdomen also called Mara or Jiao.
Symptoms
When you notice
you are have trouble while starting to urinate or are going a lot, especially
at night, or dripping before you are set, or feeling like there is still more,

Note that, an
enlarged prostate doesn’t mean you’ll have more or worse symptoms. Symptoms and
how it affects is different for each person.
In fact,
some men with very large prostates have few, if any, issues.
It’s
important to see your doctor if you have early symptoms of BPH, in some cases
it can lead to serious problems such as kidney or bladder damage or even Chiwon
Daji (cancer).
Prostatitis

Treatment
How your TMP
handles your condition would depend on the details of your case -- your age,
how much trouble it’s causing and comorbid conditions.
You could be
put on watchful Waiting. Where you have an enlarged prostate but are without
symptoms, with advised to monitor and possibly get regular checkup that could
include a variety of tests.
Lifestyle
changes. This includes cutting back on how much you drink at night and before
bedtime, especially drinks with alcohol or caffeine.
Medicine. Common Traditional medicine treatments for BPH and Prostatitis are herbal blends, some TMPs could add in Hijama (cupping), Dry needling, Acupuncture or Acupressure.
With
Traditional Medicine Practice in treatment, we focus amongst others in bringing
balance to the kidney temperament, activating blood and transforming blood
stasis. We also look fortifying spleen, increasing qi, removing dampness.
Surgery. As
a possible and rare last option (when treated with herbal blends), men with
severe symptoms who haven't been helped by other treatments might have to turn
to surgery.
Cost depends on individual case bases
