Verginal Yeast Infection (Chiwon Sanyi na Mata)
Vaginal Yeast Infection
A vaginal yeast infection (vaginal
candidiasis) is caused by an overgrowth of a fungus that naturally lives in
your vagina, called Candida albicans. This in turn triggers
irritation, inflammation, itching, and painful discharge.
This falls under the class Women Toilet Infection
(Chiwon Sanyi na Mata) in Traditional African Medicine Science, Sanyi (cold)
because the parts of the body that it affects has the attribute of Sanyi.
It is taken seriously as it could lead to
many complications in the reproductive areas and rest of the body, least of
which is the kidney.
Generally, women experience a yeast
infection sometime during their lifetime, once it was assumed to be mainly sexually
transmitted, however with research over time it has been seen to be caused by a
number of things varying from individual to individual.
This could be from type of food to type
of under pants, body hygiene and home & toilet hygiene, interestingly some
body types are more prone to it than others and yes, it is possible for men to
have penile yeast infection though more common with uncircumcised men.
Other reasons could include being
diabetic, long term medications, threadworm, fungal infections, unhygienic sex
and stress.
When as a woman you notice a virginal discharge,
take the time to notice its colour, texture – watery, thick, slimy, particles,
also smell and type of smell, itch – area of itch, discomfort during urination.
You will need to consult your doctor to
make sure that you have a yeast infection and not a bacterial or viral infection.
Yeast infections do recur, mostly when
and where the cause has not been full taken care of. Taking care to determine
the cause and eliminating it will potentially reduce the number of yeast
infections you could have or cure you of it.
Taking treatment from the Holistic Health
care point of view involves not only taking a drug orthodox or herbal but
including a look at applying the curative and sustainable preventive treatment
and life style.
So there must be an improvement on hygiene
in general, a stop to certain habits or practices like spraying perfumes on
panties, washing back to front after using the toilet should be avoided.
Eating habits and foods that could trigger
such body imbalances that can cause a build up of yeast should be looked at.
Type of panties used should not be tight,
should not be of material that will suffocate, preferable cotton panties, try
to avoid G-strings.
There are a number of herbal remedies
that help in treating yeast infections, I will only give a few here and advice
the need to consult a herbalist or holistic health specialist before you head
to the grocery store.
It will be good to treat from the inside
and outside of the body, having diagnosed the cause.
Where it is a secondary ailment the
primary cause should be treated first or in concurrency with it, in many cases
the elimination of the primary cause treats the infection.
This is seen with removal of the stress
factor, or balancing blood sugar level in diabetics, with herbal medicines some
plants or a mix of them can resolve both the primary and secondary ailments.
It will be wise to deworm yourself if you
haven’t for a while, reduce sugar intake and maintain a healthy intake of water.
